All Summer In A Day

CONCEPT

In any book cover design, the most important thing is to first identify any motifs or themes. For this project, I wanted to focus on the theme of isolation.

I began with sketches on procreate, created several designs, and then chose two to make into polished pieces on Illustrator.

PROCESS

The goal of these pieces was to create a hypothetical book cover for the Ray Bradbury short story, All Summer in a Day.

For those unfamiliar, the story centers a young girl who lives on Venus. On the one day every seven years that the sun is visible, her bullying classmates lock her in a closet.
