The images were collected from a variety of sources - print media, digital media, and original photography. For example, the ring encircling the first woman is in fact a photo of my mother's wedding ring.

Images and text were chosen for their metaphorical relevance to the characters I was trying to create. The first woman's background is composed of anti-anxiety medicine popularly prescribed to housewives in the '50s. Images like the bloodshot eye, hands applying makeup, and gloves representing tears, all contribute to the image of a broken woman hiding behind her status. In contrast, the second woman's imagery is nature-focused, and the text behind her reveals her fulfillment.
